CTICC welcomes over 100 events as in-person gatherings take centre stage

As we get into the second half of March, the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) is pleased to confirm over 100 bookings for this year so far. We anticipate that the number will increase over the next few months as the team actively engages with domestic and international event organisers to bring their events to Cape Town and the CTICC.

This flurry of activity indicates that the business events industry, one of the hardest-hit sectors due to the pandemic, has started its road to recovery.  Some of the events successfully hosted at the CTICC over the past few weeks include, the Investec Cape Town Art Fair, Solar Power Africa, and our own trade and consumer show, the Ultimate Beverage Show.

Cape Town as a destination continues to be a strong drawcard for organisers looking for an affordable location that offers natural beauty and a wide variety of venue spaces and accommodation options along with a dynamic and forward-thinking business sector and leading academia.

Although the increase in bookings and enquiries shows that people want to return to face-to-face events, there is still a level of cautiousness from both organisers and delegates. The CTICC remains focused on the personal safety of all the delegates.

The CTICC has been a leader in adopting Covid-19 protocols to ensure that sufficient precautions are taken. Our forward-thinking approach has included several critical adjustments to existing procedures such as:

–  Upgrading of our health and hygiene protocols in line with best practices and Covid-19 regulations

–  Mandatory vaccinations of all staff

–  Establishing an app for Covid-19 screening that all staff and visitors must complete

–  The development of a venue capacity management tool that ensures the best capacity management for all our venues, complying with all regulated space and crowd control stipulations.

The CTICC has also scaled its digital and hybrid capabilities to provide clients with the ability to add these elements to their events for delegates wishing to attend digitally.

Our digital platform, CTICC Engage, offers clients a variety of digital and hybrid event options that adapt to their needs.  CTICC Engage provides the following value to clients:

–  The use of artificial intelligence (AI) for matchmaking

–  Event data analytics

–  Continuing professional development (CPD) reporting

–  Branding opportunities

–  Real-time networking opportunities

–  Chat boxes, polls, etc.

“It is exciting to see the increase in confidence and bookings from the domestic and international events markets alike. As we venture towards recovery, we continue to work with our clients to support them with competitive rates and flexible contracts,” said Ms. Taubie Motlhabane, CEO of the CTICC.
