The CTICC played host to the tourism industry when it hosted World Travel Market (WTM) Africa for the 6th consecutive year.
The event brings over 5 000 of the world’s leading tourism experts together under one roof to discuss benefits, challenges and opportunities for the industry.
The 2019 installment of WTM Africa included a business-to-business exhibition, which included hundreds of exhibitors, networking sessions, and evening functions.
Agenda items during the three-day event focused on discussions around responsible tourism, women in tourism, sports and events tourism, and professionalism, accountability, safety and security in a burgeoning business tourism and events industry.
According to WTM Africa, the event continues to “help professionals in the African travel industry to drive commercial success with all year round access to make connections, industry news and developments, trends and technologies from around the world”.
“Research conducted by the World Travel and Tourism Council has found that the travel and tourism industry has contributed R425.8 billion to the South Africa economy and contributed 1.5 million jobs. These are figures that cannot be ignored and indicate to us the importance of hosting events such as World Travel Market Africa,” said Chief Executive Officer of the CTICC, Julie-May Ellingson.
The next WTM Africa is expected to take place at the CTICC from the 6th to the 8th of April 2020.
