Covid-19 update

In the wake of recent developments and updates on the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the CTICC remains fully aligned with the proactive global, national and local protocols established to help prevent and minimise the spread and impact of the virus.

Taubie Motlhabane, CEO of the Cape Town International Convention Centre, confirmed that the CTICC is taking all precautions to ensure the safety of delegates. “As a business, we face the same challenges as our global counterparts, and we have unfortunately also been affected by event cancellations and postponements. We also understand the anxiety with which event organisers, suppliers and delegates have, following reports of the spread of COVID-19.”

The centre already has an in-house medical response service provider, ER24, which has a well-rehearsed plan, and are trained in COVID-19 response protocols. These protocols have been further augmented by enhanced cleaning procedures which includes the deployment of more cleaning staff to facilitate the systematic disinfecting of all surfaces exposed to regular touch every 12-hours, supplemented by the hourly sanitising of these surfaces.  The CTICC has also provided hand sanitisers throughout the facilities restrooms alongside preventative communication and will provide touchless hand sanitiser at buffet stations for events.
